Description

A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection in any part of the urinary system and is quite common. UTIs are very common, especially in women. However,  men can also get UTIs, as well as children, though they only affect 1% to 2% of children.

WHEN TO DO THE TEST?

UTIs don’t always cause symptoms. When they do, they may include:

  • A strong urge to urinate that doesn’t go away.
  • A burning feeling when urinating.
  • Urinating often, and passing small amounts of urine.
  • Urine that looks cloudy.
  • Urine that appears red, bright pink or cola-colored — signs of blood in the urine.
  • Strong-smelling urine.
  • Pelvic pain, in women — especially in the center of the pelvis and around the area of the pubic bone.

If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, perform the Urinary Tract Infection test and inform your healthcare provider of the results to be assisted as quickly as possible.

HOW TO PERFORM THE TEST?

  1. Urinate directly onto reagent pads on test strip.
Alternatively, collect the urine in a clean cup i.e. without any residual detergents. Make sure to fill up the cup with urine.
  2. Open the foil pouch and take out the test strip.
  3. Dip the test strip in the urine sample.
  4. Remove the test strip.

Read the results within 1 minute.
